Who issues the permit
MoDOT Motor Carrier Services issues oversize permits, and all of them must be applied for online through MoDOT Carrier Express at modot.org/mce.
Carriers can call 1-866-831-6277, option 4, to reach an oversize and overweight agent.
MoDOT's house moving rules do not cover manufactured homes: its FAQ says a house does not include a manufactured home or a modular unit. The FAQ lists no separate manufactured home rules, so the general oversize rules below apply as published.
Legal width on Missouri highways is 8 feet 6 inches, so wider loads need a permit.

Fees
A legal weight single trip oversize permit costs $15.00.
A single trip over 16 feet wide, 16 feet high or 150 feet long costs $15.00 plus a $250.00 movement feasibility fee.
Loads over 16 feet wide count as superloads. MoDOT says those applications take about two weeks, with a structure analysis and a route survey.

Escorts
Loads over 12 feet 6 inches and up to 14 feet wide need a front escort on two lane highways.
Loads over 14 and up to 16 feet wide need front and rear escorts on two lane and undivided highways, and a rear escort on divided highways.
Loads over 16 and up to 18 feet wide need front and rear escorts on all highways, plus another front escort and a law enforcement escort on two lane highways.

When the home can travel
Oversize loads travel from one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset.
Extra curfews apply around Lake of the Ozarks, Branson, Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis.
Night single trip permits are available only for loads up to 12 feet 6 inches wide.
