Moving

Setup
- HUD installation standards24 CFR Part 3285, HUD's Model Installation Standards, sets the minimum rules for the first installation of a new manufactured home.
- Anchoring and tie-downsAfter blocking and leveling, a home must be secured against wind with an anchor system or an alternative foundation (24 CFR 3285.401).
- Blocking and levelingFrame piers must sit within 24 inches of each end and no more than 120 inches apart under the main rails (24 CFR 3285.310).

Costs
- What a mobile home move costs: permits and feesStates publish what their permits and licenses cost; movers rarely publish prices. These are the published figures, each linked to the page it came from, never averaged.
Move permits
- Oklahoma mobile home move permitODOT issues size and weight permits, and a manufactured home permit is $40.00. Oklahoma Tax Commission rules require the current registration decal, so taxes come first.
- Arkansas mobile home move permitArDOT's Permit Section issues a permit for each move: $17.00 up to 16 feet 6 inches wide, $150.00 above. No permit is issued over 18 feet, and cities and counties may not add their own.
- Texas mobile home move permitTxDMV issues a $40 single trip permit for each manufactured home move over legal size. It covers one trip of up to five days, and an owner may move their own home with $300,000 in liability insurance.
- Tennessee mobile home move permitTDOT's permit office issues mobile home permits through TNTRIPS: $50.00 up to 14 feet wide and $100.00 up to 16 feet for six days. Nothing wider than 16 feet may move.
- Missouri mobile home move permitMoDOT Motor Carrier Services issues oversize permits online only. A legal weight single trip permit is $15.00, and escorts start at 12 feet 6 inches wide.
Titles and taxes
- How to title a mobile home in OklahomaManufactured homes are titled through Service Oklahoma within 2 months of a purchase, but the county comes first: taxes are paid and an OTC Form 936 is issued before a move or a transfer.
- How to title a mobile home in ArkansasArkansas titles mobile homes through the Department of Finance and Administration. Its fee schedule lists a $10.00 title fee and a $26.00 registration fee for mobile and manufactured homes.
- How to title a mobile home in TexasTexas does not title manufactured homes. TDHCA issues a Statement of Ownership for $55.00, due within 60 days of a sale or move, and a moved home needs a copy of the TxDMV permit.
- How to title a mobile home in TennesseeTennessee mobile home titles go through the county clerk. A home without papers can use a certification of ownership if it is worth $3,000 or less or is 30 years old or more.
- How to title a mobile home in MissouriMissouri titles manufactured homes through the Department of Revenue on Form 108-M, with an $8.50 title fee and a $9.00 processing fee. A home recorded as affixed to land needs a severance first.
HUD rules
- HUD wind zones for manufactured homesHUD sorts every county into Wind Zone I, II or III (24 CFR 3280.305). Zone II homes are built for 100 mph and Zone III for 110 mph, and a home may not be installed in a zone above the one on its data plate.
- HUD label lookup and the data plateEvery HUD code home carries a metal HUD label on each section and a paper data plate inside. HUD does not reissue lost labels, but its contractor IBTS issues label verification letters that lenders such as Fannie Mae accept.
