Arkansas mobile home move permit
ArDOT's Permit Section issues a permit for each move: $17.00 up to 16 feet 6 inches wide, $150.00 above. No permit is issued over 18 feet, and cities and counties may not add their own.
Who issues the permit
The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) issues oversize permits online, by phone at (501) 569-2381 from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, or in person at 10324 Interstate 30 in Little Rock from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Permits can be paid with a bonded account, credit card, check or cash. The office is closed weekends and legal state holidays.
A permit is required for each single continuous movement of each manufactured home unit wider than 8 feet or longer than 60 feet.
Cities and counties may not require their own permits, bonds, fees or licenses for a move the state has permitted.

Fees
The fee is $17.00 for a home over 8 feet and up to 16 feet 6 inches wide, including projections and overhangs, and $150.00 above that width.
Movers who post a $1,000 surety bond with ArDOT may pay permit fees monthly.
Width limits
Homes over 16 feet 6 inches wide move only on an emergency permit, judged on width, distance, road condition and traffic.
No special permit is issued for a home over 18 feet wide.
Owners moving their own home
Owners may move their own home up to 12 feet wide, registered to them and not for sale, with a truck of at least one ton factory rated capacity, if they show acceptable insurance and title.
Owners need liability coverage of $25,000/$100,000/$15,000, or $115,000 combined single limit, with proof available during the move.
Manufacturers, dealers and carriers need at least $100,000 for the first bodily injury, $300,000 per accident and $100,000 for property damage.
When the home can travel
Manufactured homes may not move on Sundays, listed holidays or at night. Saturday moves are allowed, though ArDOT may restrict them around big events.
Homes over 12 feet wide may not use two lane highways from 7 to 9 a.m. or 3 to 5 p.m. This does not apply on Saturdays or from June 15 through August 15.
Homes over 16 feet 6 inches wide may move only between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
A vehicle towing a manufactured home may not exceed 55 mph, or the posted limit if lower.
Escorts, signs and flags
On roads other than four lane divided highways, homes over 12 feet and up to 14 feet 6 inches wide need one escort in front.
On controlled access divided highways with four or more lanes, a home over 14 feet 6 inches wide needs one escort behind it.
Elsewhere, a home wider than 14 feet 6 inches needs two escorts, one ahead and one behind.
The towing vehicle and the rear of the home display "OVERSIZE LOAD" signs, black on yellow, and 18 inch red or orange flags go on all four corners of the home.
About this rule copy
ArDOT links its current permit rules from media.ark.org, a host our robots check could not read, so the figures here come from the Cornell LII copy of rule 001.00.14. Confirm them with the Permit Section before the move.
